Hartford/Springfield marketing-branding specialist TSM Design won a $73,600 city of Hartford contract to promote the city’s 15-month campaign to leverage economic development via entrepreneurship, authorities say.

The competition centers on the city’s “SC2 Hartford Challenge” initiative to generate innovative proposals that leverage the city’s assets and best attributes to entice and cultivate young entrepreneurs and startup or second-stage businesses within city limits.

To that end, the city is offering $900,000 in prize money for the best ideas from marketing novices and pros.

TSM’s role is to promote the SC2 contest to as wide an audience as possible and “to convert awareness into action,” officials said Thursday.

Entrants must register on the SC2 Hartford homepage, form teams, then submit their proposals by Sept. 24, TSM Principal Nancy Urbschat said.

Hartford, Las Vegas and Greensboro, N.C., were the only three cities the Obama administration chose to participate in the grant-funded, economic-development initiative.
